Nu sunt ce par a fi --
Nu sunt
Nimic din ce-as fi vrut sa fiu!
Dar fiindca m-am nascut fara sa stiu,
Sau prea curand
Sau poate prea tarziu...
M-am resemnat, ca orice bun crestin,
Si n-am ramas decat... Cea care sunt!...

JOB APPLICATION REFERENCE MATERIALS
I am a graduate student (5th year) at
Johns Hopkins University, Computer Science Department. My
advisor is Dr. Yair
Amir. I am a member of The
Center of Networking and Distributed Systems (CNDS). I am
affiliated with the Johns Hopkins
University Information Security Institute (JHUISI) where I worked
with Dr. Giuseppe
Ateniese. Also as part of a collaboration project with UCI
Irvine, I am working with Dr. Gene Tsudik.
My interests are mainly in security services for group
communication and distributed systems. I am the architect of the Secure
Spread system that integrates security services with the Spread
Group Communication Toolkit. The project investigates robust key
agreement protocols, access control and authentication techniques, and
trust in a distributed environment.
On a more general level, I am interested in designing
security for distributed systems operating in different network
environments and supporting different semantics. Examples of such
networks include:
overlay networks, mobile ad hoc wireless networks (
Archipelago ) and sensor networks. I am also interested in secure
applications, such as certified email ( TURMS ).
Here is a complete list of my
publications and some presentations.
I am maintaining a list with some of past or upcoming network security and distributed systems
conferences and some other useful links (programming
, writing, graduate student resources, security links, etc).
Also here is IEEE Distributed Systems Online
Concerning graduate student life and applying for a Ph.D. program ...
a very good
list of resources for graduate students is maintained
at Iowa State University by Dr. Vasant Honavar.
Romanian students thinking about applying for a Ph.D. program, would find
Mihai Budiu's
Guide to Ph. D. Admisson (in romanian) very useful.
I was born and grew up in Bucharest (Bucuresti), ROMANIA. I like to travel and take photos . I love books. Some of my favourite writers, singers,
bands, books are: favorite singer - Sade,
favorite band - Marillion,
favorite romanian writers - I.L.Caragiale and
M.Preda , favorite writer - M. Yourcenar, favourite classic
musician - J. S. Bach, favourite book - Roadside Picnic,
by Arkady and Boris
Strugatski .
